Hier soir j’étais à une conférence où parlait Giulano da Empoli et….. Et je vois tout de suite à vos têtes que je commence à vous saoûler avec Da Empoli..
Alors changement de décor : Silicon Valley, 2000. Un jeune entrepreneur de tech (« Techie 1 ») vient de vendre sa première Startup pour $20M. Sur ce montant il prélève $1M pour s’acheter une MacLaren, et investit le reste dans son nouveau projet. Un de ses concurrents (« Techie 2 ») vient frapper à sa porte et lui dit qu’au lieu de se tirer la bourre, ils feraient mieux de s’associer. Accord conclu. Rapidement, les choses s’accélèrent et un rendez vous est organisé pour aller lever de l’argent auprès du fonds de capital risque Sequoia.
Pour y aller, Techie 1 prend la MacLaren. Techie 2 s’installe sur le siège passager. Au bout de quelques minutes, il demande : « Alors, qu’est ce que tu peux faire avec ton avion de chasse ? »
« Regarde », répond Techie 1.
Techie 2 raconte, des années plus tard : « Elle a en quelque sorte fait un tour sur elle même à 360 degrés, mais dans l’air. Un objet volant non identifié planant à 2 mètres au dessus de l’autoroute. »
